Fuelled by a supercharged US equity market, Developed Markets overtook Emerging Markets last year, with MSCI World delivering a 309% total US$ net return for the quarter century vs 297% for Emerging Markets. If it comes as any consolation for Emerging Market investors, Emerging Markets comfortably outperformed the 153% return of Developed Markets outside the US.
